A mass-market soft-drink take on the style rather than a craft root beer, Mirinda's Root Beer reads sweet, soda-bright, and easygoing, with the classic sassafras-and-root backbone dialed down to a gentle suggestion rather than a statement. Reviewers note a tart, fruit-forward opening that sits in front of the root character, so the wintergreen-birch lift and the herbal-medicinal bark notes register as faint accents rather than the driving force. It lands at the soft, approachable end of the category, closer to a fizzy nostalgia soda than to the dry, bittered apothecary profiles that anchor the serious end of the root beer spectrum. Of interest mainly as a Southeast Asian PepsiCo curiosity, long sold in Thailand and recently relaunched, rather than as a benchmark pour.

The maker

Mirinda is a carbonated soft drink brand created in Spain in 1959 and owned by PepsiCo since 1970; it is marketed largely outside the United States and is best known for its orange flavor. The Root Beer variant is a Thailand-market product: a 'new-generation' Mirinda Root Beer was launched there in September 2023, aimed at Gen Z and distributed by Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand). It is sold nationwide in Thailand in 325 ml cans and 345 ml PET bottles rather than as a globally bottled recipe.
