Lucky Ginger Brew
Boots Beverages · savory craft ginger brew (basil, honey, soy, ginger)
Bryan, Texas, USA
A genuinely unusual entry in the ginger family: this Texas-brewed craft soda leans savory before it leans sweet, layering fresh basil, honey, and a whisper of soy over a brisk, cane-sugar ginger base. The ginger reads as a real kick rather than a polite tingle, while the herbal-savory top notes give it a culinary, almost cocktail-mixer character that sets it apart from the candied mass-market crowd. Cane sugar keeps the body honest and the finish clean, though the artificial coloring is an odd note in an otherwise thoughtfully composed pour. One to reach for when you want a ginger brew with an actual point of view.

The maker
Lucky Ginger Brew is a craft soda from Boots Beverages, the Texas family bottler founded in 1948 by Boots Kristen and still run by his descendants. Introduced in 2016, it is one of the brand's more adventurous recipes, marketed as a sweet-yet-savory ginger soda with notes of basil and soy. Like the rest of the Boots line, it is sweetened with cane sugar and bottled in Texas.
