Cream soda
Avery's Cream Soda
Avery's Beverages · Classic vanilla cream soda
New Britain, Connecticut, USA
Avery's Cream Soda leans into the sweet, nostalgic end of the style: a forward, almost dessert-like vanilla over a cane-sugar base that drinks rich and round rather than crisp. The carbonation is moderate and the finish stays smooth and creamy, with just a whisper of citric tartness keeping it from turning cloying. It is a straightforward, well-made classic — long on comfort and vanilla character, short on complexity — and the kind of cream soda that wins on charm.

The maker
Avery's Beverages has bottled soda by hand in a red barn on Corbin Avenue in New Britain, Connecticut since Sherman F. Avery started the company in 1904, making it one of the oldest continuously operating soda houses in the region. The sodas are still made in small batches with real cane sugar and bottled in returnable glass, and Cream Soda is one of the brand's signature flavors alongside its birch beer and root beer. The business passed to new owner Patrick Moore in 2025, who has kept the heritage recipes and packaging intact.
